Tomoya Okazaki is a delinquent who has no ambitions and works part-time during high school. In his childhood, a tragedy caused his father to turn to alcohol and neglect his son. However, meaningful human interaction can still be beneficial, as Tomoya learns when he meets the mysterious Nagisa Furukawa. The strange girl offers Tomoya a friendship, but he rejects it as a matter of course. However, he soon finds himself encountering Nagisa more and more at school, and Tomoya sets aside his cruelty and befriends her. When he learns that Nagisa's dream is to revive the school's drama club, Tomoya decides to put aside his apathy and dedicate himself to his new friend to help her achieve her wish. But what starts as a simple friendship deepens into something more heartfelt, more profound, and more influential. As they face various tribulations and hardships, Tomoya and Nagisa also learn about the challenges of life.
